How to get MOTIVATION!

Having troubles with motivation? Maybe you're struggling to get to the gym, or are needing that extra push to eat healthier and improve your lifestyle habits? Here I have put together some ways in which can improve and spike your motivation and inspire you in some way or another.

First off, one of the best ways to get you started is to set some goals, more specifically S.M.A.R.T goals.

SPECIFIC What do you want to accomplish? Who needs to be included? When do you want to do this? Why is it a goal?

MEASURABLE How can you measure progress and know if you’ve successfully met your goal?

ACHIEVABLE Do you have the skills required to achieve the goal? If not, can you obtain them? What is the motivation for this goal, can you do this on your own at the gym?

RELEVANT Why am I setting this goal now? Is it aligned with overall objectives?

TIME-BOUND What’s the deadline if there is one? and is it realistic?

By following this step by step goal setting guide, you will soon have a better vision of your goals and some sort of motivation and reason to get there. Most of the time, people create goals without thoroughly analysing them and seeing if it is realistically achievable or not.

Secondly, GET A BUDDY! We can all agree that when it comes to stepping foot in a gym it can be one of the most petrifying things imaginable, most of the time it is due to being self conscious, not educated enough to know what you're doing and or scared that you aren't performing the exercises properly. Fear not, if this is you keep reading. By getting a gym buddy a.k.a workout partner you eliminate all fears as you have that support system there with you the whole entire time. A workout partner is there to push you to your limits, especially during those hard sessions when you need a motivator to push harder, they will be there to make you go on those days that you really can't seem to push yourself to go and are there to watch you grow!

Get yourself a banging music playlist. By putting on my favourite beats, it 100% puts me in a better mood making my workout so much more enjoyable. Depending on what you like to listen to, make sure it pumps you up, my favourites are old school party hits, I listen to a lot of rap/hip-hop, some one hit wonders like Beyonce or Alicia Keys hits the spot or I play motivation speeches to hit my limit when working out.

Another way to keep you on track is to track! Tracking your measurements can be a sure fire way to make sure that you are making progress, especially when it comes to the scales, they can be very confusing. There is a myth that muscle weighs more than fat, which isn't actually and understandable statement as 1kg is 1kg, however their volume is different. As a matter of fact, 1kg of fat is roughly 3 times the size of 1kg of muscle, this then solves the mystery of why the scales may stay the same and why you might think you aren't losing weight when in fact you could be losing fat and gaining muscle. This is why measurements are so important if you do weigh yourself, so that you can see the centimetres come off your body, even though the weight is fluctuating. Once you see that you are progressing, it gives you even more motivation to continue and push on.

These are just a few of my tips to get motivation and I hope that it has helped you in same way, shape or form.
